Jiahe County was established in 1639 with an area of 699 square kilometers and a population of 435,000. The ancient name is Hecangbao(禾仓堡), the place where Shennong, the Chinese ancestor, first taught people to cultivate and build granaries.
With a history of more than 300 years in the foundry industry, Jiahe is known as The Foundry Capital in South China and The Forge Hometown of China. It is also a marvelous place with rich resource and has bred many outstanding people such as the first founding general Xiao Ke and famous writer Guhua, etc. As for culture, Jiahe’s folk songs are of a wide variety, rich in content and well preserved and it was named The Hometown of Folk Songs by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture in 1993. What’s more, Jiahe is well known for its delicious food such as three-flavor chili peppers, Yellow Wine, etc.
Nowadays over 200 forge and foundry companies in Jiahe are insisting on innovation, Jiahe has achieved good and rapid economic and social development.
